Mental health is just as important as staying physically fit or treating a physical injury. Studies have shown that Soldiers and other personnel that require security clearances do not seek behavioral health treatment for fear that it will result in a loss or denial of their clearance eligibility. This brief will discuss the policy and process changes to provide awareness of what is myth and what is fact in how reporting mental and behavioral health treatment does or does not affect a clearance.
